My Bucket List

The 8th of December. That was the last date that I wrote a blog post. I'm so angry at myself. Typical me, I always start things and never carry them on. It's not like I've been busy or anything. I'm just L.A.Z.Y.

Anyway, now that that has been addressed let's catch up.. AGAIN. Last time I wrote anything it was 2015. And now here we are half way through 2016. How crazy is that? I feel like my life is passing me by without me even realising.

Around the time of the New Year I decided to write a bucket list. It's not very long yet because I don't want to just add random things for the sake of adding them but wanted to have things that I genuinely want to do before it's too. I though that I would share that with you today (it's safe to say that none of these have been accomplished yet but there's still time.. I'm only 18!).

My Bucket List

  1.    Fall hopelessly in love
  2.    Travel the world
  3.    Have an amazing group of friends that I will know forever
  4.    Get a tattoo
  5.    Write a song
  6.    Have a song written about me
  7.    Write a novel
  8.    Learn to swim
  9.    Go to Harry Potter studios in London
  10.  Watch a West-End or Broadway musical
  11.   Go indoor skydiving
  12.   Learn to surf

I      So that's my bucket list so far. I'm sure I'll add more as I think of them and hopefully they'll get crossed off soon enough. What have you got on your bucket lists? And if you don't have one I challenge you to make one and post it. Thanks for reading as always. Leave comments, you know, if you want.

Will I Ever Fall In Love?

A question that I've been asking myself recently is will I ever fall in love? And I don't mean obsessing over celebrities who I vow I will marry someday, I mean like a boy who knows I exist and who doesn't only exist in my mind.

I've been on this earth for 18 years now and not many people know that I've never had a boyfriend and I've only ever been kissed once (which doesn't really even count as it was just a silly game of truth or dare when I was 12 and it was more like a peck on the lips). Writing that down is actually quite embarrassing for me. It's hard not to ask yourself 'Is there something wrong with me?'.

I know I'm probably not alone is this problem. I wouldn't make such a big deal out of it but my biggest worry is that when it does happen with someone I care about, will I be terrible at it because I've had virtually no experience?

All the movies and books make finding someone who loves you look so easy. But it never is. I honestly believe it's because of these expectations that society thinks we have to find the one, fall in love and live happily ever after. These expectations are forced on us and now when we find ourselves without love in our lives we believe there's something wrong with us. It's crazy pressure from such a young age.

Maybe the best way to find someone is to stop looking (as Rachel Green told us in Friends). Growing up is proving to be a real pain. Any advice for a confused girl? Leave a comment below.

And so it begins..

Hi there. If you're reading this then welcome to my blog. The birth of this blog was your typical birth story, painful and joyful. I was sat at home on a warm July day, in tears of boredom when I had a eureka moment: why not start a blog? And so Little Mortal was born.

As a way of letting you get to know me, I thought that I would share 10 facts about me to break the ice.

1. I live in a little village just outside Mullingar (yes, the home of Niall Horan) in Ireland
Yes, this is how cute my dog is!
2. I have just finished school and am currently taking a year out before I go to university
3. I have passed Grade 8 violin and am hoping to get a teaching diploma in the future
4. My dog's name is Milly and she is the cutest thing ever!
5. I absolutely LOVE the Australian soap 'Neighbours' and it's the only soap I watch
6. I get bored really easily (hence this blog)
7. I'm the youngest in my family (one sister and one brother)
8. I really want to write a novel someday
9. I am an extremely awkward person and there's very few people I feel comfortable with
10. Oreos, pizza and cereal are my favourite foods!

So there are the 10 facts that I could think of about myself. I'm sure there's many more things but hopefully we'll get to know each other as we go along. Please leave comments and suggestions and advice and all of that stuff. It would mean a lot :)
